Holidays

A stormy night.

The sea crashed against the rocks of the island and the birds hid from the fast and hard rain drops.

We ran for all we were worth, the ground was muddy and sky was dark but on we went, ’til finally we reached home.

We tumbled inside and I reached for the light switch, I tried flicking it on but the light stayed off and the room stayed dark and eerie. ‘Hurry up,’ shouted my Father, breaking the silence. ‘Well you try,’ I replied, ‘go on.’ so up he got and over he came but when he flicked the light switch nothing happened, he flicked the again and again trying in vain to turn the light on, then he turn around to face us but we could not see his expression but we all knew he could not turn the lights on, then he said ‘we can’t turn on the lights,’ then I rolled my eyes and said ‘I knew that,’ but everyone ignored me and went to look for candles. What an exciting way to start a holiday
